Holistic Approach

Therapy for Everyone

We blend traditional psychotherapy with Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, allowing for deeper emotional exploration and growth through interactions with our gentle horses.

This alternative method enables clients to engage meaningfully, fostering trust, empathy, and healing in a supportive setting that does not require you to "talk about your feelings."

Individual Equine Sessions

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy provides a unique opportunity for experiential learning and growth. By interacting with horses, clients can observe their own behaviors and emotions, leading to valuable self-discovery. No two sessions are alike, each experience is catered towards your own individual needs/comfort levels/interests, etc.

Family/Couples Counseling

In our couples and family therapy sessions, the presence of horses offers unique opportunities to deepen communication, build trust, and strengthen relationships. The nonjudgmental nature of equines helps individuals tune into emotional dynamics, practice empathy, and engage in meaningful, connection-based healing.

FAQs

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy sessions. Each session can be tailored to include equine-assisted psychotherapy or traditional talk therapy - depending on your comfort and goals.

Do I have to work with the horses?

No. All animal involvement is completely optional. Some clients choose to include horses in their sessions, while others prefer traditional talk therapy. You decide what feels best.

Do we ride the horses during sessions?

No. All equine-assisted psychotherapy is groundwork only. This means activities happen on the ground alongside the horses.

Is it safe to work with horses?

Yes. Your safety is our top priority. Sessions are supervised at all times, horses are carefully selected for temperament, and we follow industry-standard safety practices.

What should I wear to a session?

Closed-toe shoes (boots or sturdy sneakers) are required when working with the horses. Comfortable clothing that allows movement is recommended. Avoid dangling jewelry or loose items that could startle animals.

What if I’m nervous around animals?

That’s completely okay. Many clients start with talk therapy only, or work gradually with animals at a pace that feels safe. You’ll never be pressured into direct contact with an animal.

Can children participate in therapy?

Yes. We provide therapy for children, teens, and adults. For equine or animal-assisted sessions, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we are currently accepting: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, Independence Blue Cross Pennsylvania - Virtual National Network, Quest Behavioral Health.

Please contact us directly via our booking link or email forum to confirm your coverage and options. We also offer private-pay rates.

Where are you located?

We are located in Avon, Connecticut, on a peaceful rescue farm surrounded by nature and animals. Directions and details are provided when you book your appointment.

How do I book a session?

You can book directly through our website or email to schedule. We offer the option to upload your insurance information securely online, which links directly to our EHR system, 'Headway'.

What happens in a first session?

The first session is about getting to know you, your goals, needs, and comfort level. Together, we’ll create a plan that may include traditional talk therapy, equine-assisted therapy, or a blend of both.
